Women's Soccer Topped by New York University

Riverdale, NY| The St. Joseph's College women's soccer team fell in a 10-1 non-conference decision to New York University on Sunday afternoon.

The Golden Eagles slip to 2-2-1 on the season as the Violets improve to 4-1-0 overall.

Down 1-0 midway through the first half, sophomore Savannah McMaster knotted the score at one with her second goal of the season. However, the home team retook the lead when Gabriella Funk scored in the 32nd minute before back-to-back goals in the closing minutes in the half saw NYU leading 4-1 heading into the break.

Six unanswered NYU goals in the second half moved the game to its final 10-1.

SJC keeper Juliana Cintron-Leonard faced 34 shots making nine saves with her counterpart Meghan Marhan recorded one.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Tuesday, September 17 when they open Skyline Conference play at Yeshiva University. Game time is set for 7:30 PM.
