Two Golden Eagles Earned All-Conference Nods at NJAC Championships

Galloway, NJ| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's and women's outdoor track and field teams traveled to Galloway, NJ for the NJAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships this past weekend, which was hosted at Stockton University.  

Jessica Pierno had a strong showing for the women in the heptathlon, as she was in fifth place after the first day of the Championships. Pierno broke the school record in the high hurdles by one second with a fifth-place finish time of 16.93, to establish a new fastest time by a Golden Eagles heptahlete. She would then break the school record in the shot put with a toss of 10.18 meters, which was the furthest throw by a heptathlete in the program's history and earned her a first place finish. The East Patchogue, NY native then ran the 200 meter dash with a third-place time of 27.91. Overall, Pierno set nine school records in seven events and was named to NJAC All-Conference Honorable Mention with her third place performance in the heptathlon.

Ashley Arquer advanced to the finals in the 100 meter dash after posting an ECAC-qualifer time of 12.60. She would post an eighth place time of 13.17 in the finals.

MaryBeth Scott placed eighth in the high jump breaking the school record with a 2.91-meter jump.

Gabrielle Mason jumped 2.91 meters in the pole vault which bettered her previous school record.

For the men, Josiah Hoshyla placed second in the pole vault with a 4.55 meter jump, earning his first NJAC All-Conference selection.

The 4x100-meter relay team of Brian Frejka, Mike O'shea, Daniel Anthonawich, and Nick Russo placed seventh with a school record time of 45.82 seconds.

Ashley Arquer and Joshia Hoshyla will take part in the ECAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Wednesday May 18th, hosted by Westfield State University.
