Two Golden Eagles Qualify For Regionals At First Spring Contest
Medford, N.Y. – The SJC Equestrian team kicked off its spring season at a show by Dowling College at Suffolk Equestrian Academy. The team tied with Suffolk County Community College for Reserve Champion reaching a total of 35 points.In first place was New York University with 37 points.
Golden Eagle Leah Uliano (Miller Place, N.Y./ Miller Place) was the overall High Point Rider of the day. As individuals, the team placed quite impressively with six first place rankings and two IHSA Regional qualifications.
Junior Nikki Nobile (Amityville, N.Y./ St. John the Baptist) classed out of Walk-Trot-Canter, qualified for Regionals, and will now compete in Novice. Junior Maclain Palumbo (Wheatley Heights, N.Y./ Half Hollow Hills West) classed out of Novice Flat, qualified for Regionals, and will now compete in Intermediate Flat.
Noble, Palumbo, Uliano, Nicole Robinson (Manorville, N.Y./ Eastport- South Manor), and Rachel Russak (Huntington, N.Y./ Smithtown Christian) all came in first place for their respective events.
The team's next competition is next Sunday, March 15 at the Olde Towne Equestrian Center in Selden N.Y., hosted by New York University.
