Zollo, Diehl & McCarthy Win Skyline Weekly Honors for 12/22

New York, N.Y. - Gabrielle Zollo and Lorraine Diehl of the Golden Eagles swim team and Sean McCarthy of men's basketball took Skyline Conference weekly honors in the December 22 report. 

Women's Swimmer of the Week
Gabrielle Zollo
Sophomore, West Islip, NY/West Islip HS
Zollo placed first in both the 50-yard freestyle (28.08) and 100-yard freestyle (1:00.87) events on Dec. 20 as St. Joseph's-L.I. notched a 131-66 victory over St. Joseph's-Brooklyn…also swam the opening leg of the Golden Eagles' winning 200-yard freestyle relay (1:54.73).

Women's Swimming Rookie of the Week
Lorraine Diehl
Freshman, Ronkonkoma, NY/Sachem North HS
Diehl won the 1,000-yard freestyle on Dec. 20 in a time of 13:44.19 as St. Joseph's-L.I. posted a 131-66 victory over St. Joseph's-Brooklyn…also placed third in the 100-yard freestyle and swam a leg on the Golden Eagles' 200-yard medley relay (2:21.56).

Men's Basketball Player of the Week
Sean McCarthy
Senior, Forward, Kings Park, NY/Kings Park HS
McCarthy scored a game-high 23 points on 8-of-15 shooting on Dec. 18 as St. Joseph's-L.I. was edged by St. Joseph's-Brooklyn (69-66) in its lone contest of the week…shot 5-for-10 from beyond the arc and added a pair of assists…named the Skyline Player of the Week for the second time this season.
