Women's Volleyball Falters in Season Opener

Purchase, NY| The St. Joseph's College women's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Manhattanville College Friday evening. The Valiants open its season at 1-0 with the Golden Eagles starting at 0-1.

The Golden Eagles dropped the first two sets both by a score of 25-20 before the Valiants completed the sweep with a 25-18 victory in set three.

Sophomore Kaitlin Williams had team-high eight kills for the Golden Eagles and finished with six digs. Freshman Amanda Goldstein and senior Kristen Bohnenblusch pitched in with five kills apiece. Sophomore setter Brionna Silva tossed up 18 assists and senior Danielle Senecal recorded a team-high 17 digs.

Laura Livolsi led Manhattanville with 15 kills with Austen Brauer adding 11 kills. Setter Sarah Camarena dished 20 assists and Monica Lopez finished with a game-high 23 digs.

The Golden Eagles host Shenandoah College at the Danzi Center Saturday, Sept. 1 at 3:00 pm.
