Women's Volleyball Posts a Non-Conference Split at Baruch Tri-Match

New York, NY| The St. Joseph's College women's volleyball team split a pair of non-conference contests at Baruch College on Saturday. The Golden Eagles dropped to Montclair State University before bouncing back to beat hosts Baruch College 3-1.

SJC moves to 8-7 on the season.

The Red Hawks (10-5) jumped ahead with 25-12 and 25-7 wins in sets one and two, respectively. The Golden Eagles held off elimination gutting out a 25-23 win in set three, but MSU managed a to take the fourth set 25-19 and secure the match win.

Kristen Bohnenblusch led St. Joseph's with 13 kills. Kaitlin Williams also finished in double figures with 10 kills. Setter Toni Parente dished 30 assists and libero Danielle Senecal recorded a match-high 16 digs.

Leah Higgins led the Red Hawks with an 11-kill performance. Setter Ashley Griffith tossed 38 assists and Alexandra Campos recorded 14 digs.

St. Joseph's took a 25-16 win in the opening frame before the Bearcats evened the score with a 25-21 win of their own in set two. The Golden Eagles went on to collect 25-21 and 25-17 wins over sets three and four to take the match 3-1.

Lauren Young and Amanda Goldstein led the Golden Eagles from the middle with 13 and 11 kills, respectively. Young tallied five total blocks with Goldstein recording two. Setter Brionna Silva came away with 38 assists and Senecal finished with 22 digs.

Anita Sengara led the Bearcats with a double-double of 15 kills and 14 digs. Katherine Chen recorded 22 assists and Wai Chang added 16 digs.

The Golden Eagles continue non-conference play on Wednesday, October 3 when they travel to Lehman College. Game time is slated for 7:00 pm.
