The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) women's volleyball advances to the Skyline Conference Championship Tournament semifinals with a 3-0 sweep over SUNY Old Westbury in the Danzi Center on Tuesday evening.

Top performers

  • Junior Madison Gremli knocked down a match-best 15 kills while hitting at a .480 clip

  • Sophomore Jackie Wolf finished in double figures with 12 kills while picking up eight digs

  • Senior middle Lauren Harmer recorded six kills and four blocks 

  • Setter Katie D'Angelo tossed 28 assists and collected a team-high nine digs

  • Clarissa Olivero led the Panthers with six kills

How it happened

  • The Golden Eagles led by as many as five, 8-3, early in set one, but the Panthers went on to chip away to take a 12-11 lead. Four straight points went in favor of SJLI and they maintained a lead to an eventual 25-16 win

  • St. Joseph's broke a 5-5 stalemate with five unanswered points and managed to keep OW at arm's length for the remainder of the set and back-to-back kills from Gremli secured the 25-19 win

  • Tied at 20 in the third set, the Golden Eagles rattled off five straight points for the 25-20 win

  • St. Joseph's advances to the Skyline semifinals for the first time since the 2018 season

  • Tonight marks six straight wins for the Golden Eagles
