Seniors Shine in Men’s Soccer’s Senior Day Victory

Patchogue, NY| Three seniors tallied goals in the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's soccer team's 7-2 Senior Day victory over Sarah Lawrence College at Danzi Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the Golden Eagles improve to 4-5-1 overall on the year and 3-2-1 in conference play as the Gryphons slip to 1-10-0 (1-5-0 Skyline).

Seniors Justin Busto and Kyle Conway each contributed a goal and an assist apiece and Shayne Johnson scored the game-winner.

Junior Rayneri Ruiz tallied twice and added a helper, and sophomores Ricardo Zapata and Vincent Raccuglia found the back of the net in the first half.

Sophomore keeper Tyler Flaherty made one save and freshman Aydin Olgun allowed one goal in 18:52 of action.

Ruiz struck twice in the 13th minute and paved the way for Johnson, Raccuglia, Zapata and Conway to tally in the remaining 32 minutes of the first half.

Busto scored in the 55th minute after SJC took a 6-1 lead into the break, but Sarah Lawrence's Colin Berg capped the scoring in the 76th minute (7-2).

St. Joseph's held advantages in shots (27-7) and corners (10-1) in the contest.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Wednesday, October 10 when they host St. Joseph's College (Brkln) for a Skyline Conference showdown at 7:00 pm.
