Men’s Tennis Falls to Purchase

Purchase, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's tennis team suffered an 8-1 defeat to SUNY Purchase in a Skyline Conference contest in Purchase, NY on Wednesday afternoon.

With the loss, the Golden Eagles slip to 2-5 overall and 0-4 in Skyline play as the Panthers improve to 6-1 (3-1 Skyline).

SJC dropped all three doubles matches but the second doubles pairing of freshmen Nick Bongiorno and William Vita fared best in an 8-7 defeat.

Bongiorno would go on to post SJC's only victory of the match when he defeated Matthew Waterhouse 7-6, 6-3 at second singles.

Sophomore Kenneth Pettersen was downed 6-3, 6-0 at sixth singles.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Thursday, April 11 when they host John Jay for a non-conference match at 5:00 pm.
