Women's Basketball Downed by the Dolphins on Tuesday

Riverdale, NY| The St. Joseph's College women's basketball team had their four-game win streak snapped by a 78-34 Skyline Conference loss to the College of Mt. St. Vincent on Tuesday evening.

The Golden Eagles now sit at 8-14 overall with a 6-11 conference record. The Dolphins improve to 12-9 on the season, 10-7 Skyline.

Freshman Alyssa Adomaites paced the Golden Eagles with 10 points and three assists. Freshman Catherine Siounis pitched in with eight points with sophomore Alyssa Signor adding six and a team-high eight rebounds.

CMSV was led by a 19-point performance off the bench from DarNeisha Brice. Kira Villegas recorded 15 points on 6-for-10 shooting from the field and Aria Rheams came away with a double-double of 13 points and 17 rebounds.

Mt. St. Vincent opened strong in the first quarter holding the Golden Eagles to just five points while putting up 27. The Dolphins never let off the gas taking a 29-point lead into the break.

The second half saw more of the same with the Golden Eagles unable to develop any momentum, ultimately falling 78-34.

The Dolphins shot 50.8% from the field while finishing 36.0% from three-point range.  SJC finished shooting 27.3% from the floor.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, February 15 when they travel to face St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn at 1:00 pm.
