Wayne, NJ| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's soccer team suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of William Paterson University on Wednesday night in a non-conference matchup at Pioneer Soccer Park in Wayne, NJ. With the loss, the Golden Eagles fall to 3-4 on the season as their NJAC opponents improve to 4-3.

The Golden Eagles found themselves down early in the game when Kristen Bowe delivered a through ball from the top of the box, which found the foot of Corrine Bowe, who fired it into the back of the net, for the 1-0 lead in the first minute of action. The Pioneers doubled their lead when Lorraine Moffitt took advantage of a free kick attempt from the top of the box and shot it upper-90 in the 27th minute.

Outshot 11-2 in the first half, the Golden Eagles entered halftime down 2-0 but failed to bounce back in the second half. The Pioneers tacked on an insurance goal when Ashely Cozzi sent a cross to Bowe, who doubled her goal total, with a one-touch finish in the 65th minute. The Golden Eagles were held without a shot in the final 23 minutes before succumbing to the 3-0 defeat.

Juliana Cintron-Leonardo recorded six saves in a match that saw her side outshot 20-3, as William Paterson held the advantage in corners 8-1.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, September 23 when they host non-conference rival Lehman College at 4:00 pm. Live stats will be available here.
