Cristobal Qualifies for ECAC Indoor Championship at DeSchriver Invitational

Stroudsburg, Pa. - The St. Joseph's College men's and women's track & field team turned in record performances at the DeSchriver Invitational hosted by East Stroudsburg University.
 
Women
Competing for the women was junior Christine Cristobal (Dix Hills, NY/Half Hallow Hills West) took third overall in the 1000m with a time of 3:07.41 which qualifies her for the ECAC  Indoor Championship in March.

"Christine has brought the women's program to a new level being the first female runner at SJC to qualify for an ECAC track & field championship. She has worked very hard in practice and it has paid off during competition," said head coach David Oroza.

Men
On the men's side, freshman Robert Johnson (Mastic Beach, NY/William Floyd) again had another great week running a 2:02.48 in the 800m breaking the St. Joseph's record. 

Junior Jonathan Afanador (Medford, NY/Patchogue-Medford) competed in the 1000m crossing the finish line at 2:47.14. This time places Afanador in the top five all time indoor list.

SJC returns to action next Saturday, February 11 at the CTC Indoor Championships hosted by Wesleyan University.
