Sage Gators Chomp Down on Golden Eagles to Sweep Season Series

Albany, N.Y.–The Sage College's men's basketball team hosted the Golden Eagles of St. Joseph's College in a Skyline Conference contest on Saturday afternoon in Kahl Gym and took possession of first place (along with Mount Saint Vincent) in the Skyline Conference standings, while SJC fell to second.  This was the second time in the team's two meetings this year that Sage was the victor.

Sage's collected the 87-63 win, the fifth straight for the Gators, as they improve to 17-4 overall and 11-3 in the league.  SJC drops to 13-8 overall and 10-4 in the league. Sage led 46-38 at the break and despite some impressive three-point shooting from SJC, never trailed or saw the game tied. By game's end, Sage broke their single-game three-point mark as they tallied 14 from downtown, bettering a record of 12 against St. Joseph's from the 2012-2013 season.

He finished with four three-pointers and four assists, while sophomore guard Andy Laurent (Amityville, NY/Amityville) added 12 points with eight rebounds. Sophomore forward Fernando Vazquez (Babylon, NY/Babylon) added 11 points for the Golden Eagles.

Sage's junior Andre Robinson (Fort Pierce, FL/Fort Pierce Westwood) tied the Sage single-game three-point record as he hit seven three-pointers in the game and led all Gators with his 25 points. Robinson shot 8-15 from the floor and 7-11 from three-point range, while adding 11 rebounds.

Sage junior Jorrdan McCray added 15 points, while senior Kai Deans added 12 points and three blocked shots, while sophomore Brett Ullman added 12 points off the bench and was 4-7 from three-point range.

St. Joseph's and Sage both return to Skyline action on Wednesday, February 11 as the Golden Eagles will host Maritime at 5:30 p.m., while the Gators visit Purchase College for an 8 p.m. game.
