Golf Finishes Seventh at Dr. Brown Invitational

Ballston Spa, N.Y. - The men's golf team competed in the Dr. Tim Brown Invitational hosted by Skidmore College at the Ballston Spa Country Club and shot a total 317 on day one, and 317-318 on day two (635) placing them seventh out of nine teams.

Skies were partly cloudy with mild temps, but there were strong winds gusting upwards of 40 mph on Saturday – Sunday's weather conditions were a bit more manageable, but the Golden Eagles didn't play up to expectations.

Junior Zac Campanelli continued his fine play posting a solid 74 on day one and 76 on day two, tying him for twelfth place.  Sophomore John Melandro posted a very good score of 77 after leading the tournament day one play and another solid score of 75 on day two, which tied him for fourteenth place.

Some other notable playing came from junior Robert Bray who posted a two-day total of 82-82, 165, which tied him for 36th and senior Kenneth Ortiz posted score of 83-84, 167, which landed him at a tie for 38th.  Ortiz will be playing his final St. Joseph's College golf tournament this coming Thursday and Friday.

Senior captain Sean Sanders played in his final golf tournament this weekend posting scores of 88-98, 186, while recent transfer Brandon Hauser competed in his first collegiate golf tournament posting scores of 96-93, 189.

SJC will prepare for their concluding invitational of the season, which will be hosted by Farmingdale State College at Bethpage State Park this Thursday.
