Men’s Lacrosse Breezes Past Mt. St. Vincent, 17-6

Riverdale, NY| The trio of Josh Shaw, Casey Hickey and Scott Reece combined for 17 points as the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's lacrosse team dismissed the College of Mount St. Vincent, 17-6, on the road in a Skyline Conference contest on Wednesday afternoon.

With the win the Golden Eagles improve to 6-5 on the year and 3-4 in conference play as the Dolphins slide to 2-9 (0-7 Skyline).

Hickey led all players with seven points (3 goals, 4 assists) in the game, while Shaw (3 goals, 3 assists) and Reece (3 goals, 1 assist) went for six and four points, respectively.

Starting keeper Andrew Yoli was credited with five saves on seven shots in 45:00 minutes of action, and Declan Canevari went 15-3 on faceoffs.

After scoring three goals in the first quarter, SJC outpaced the hosts 2-1 in the second to take a 5-1 lead into the break.

The sides would trade goals early in the third quarter but what followed would be an 8-0 run by the Golden Eagles that ran through the end of period and fired the guests to a 14-2 lead.

Mount St. Vincent won the fourth quarter by a 4-3 scoreline, but at the final buzzer it was a 17-6 result in favor of SJC.

St. Joseph's dominated on shots (54-23) and faceoffs (17-9) while also holding a commanding lead in ground balls won (28-17).

The Golden Eagles return to action on Tuesday, April 18 when they host Skyline Conference rival SUNY Maritime at 7:00 pm. Live stats for the contest will be available here.
