Patchogue, NY| After posting a 7-7 overall record and earning a spot in the Skyline Conference Semifinal in the 2019 season as the #3 seed, the St. Joseph's College women's lacrosse team looks to make its way back to the postseason in 2021.

The Returners: St. Joseph's returns nine Golden Eagles to the 2021 squad. Tori Staker returns for her final season after leading the Golden Eagles with 10 points (7G, 3A) in the shortened 2020 season. The senior finished the 2019 season with 57 points on 44 goals and 13 assists.

Returning to patrol the midfield with Staker will be Amanda Gennardo, and Sydney Cullen.

Sophomore Melissa Newman will be leading the attack after finishing with a team-best eight goals in her freshman campaign. 

The defense will be led by veteran Alexandra Ehrhart who finished with 16 ground balls with 11 caused turnovers in the 2019 season. She will be joined by senior Sarah Bauman and sophomores Sydney Furno, Christine Esposito, and Joelle Vetter.

The Newcomers: Head Coach Geoff Cassell begins his second year as head coach adding six new Golden Eagles to the 2019 squad.

Freshmen Sabrina Simonetti and Alexa Cordingly enter their first year at SJC looking to make an immediate impact in the midfield. Adding depth to the attack are freshman Brooke Zecchine and sophomore Jamie Verity and rounding out the defense is newcomer Grace Erny. Junior transfer Jillian Hummel joins the Golden Eagles taking on a bulk of the work between the pipes.

When they begin: The Golden Eagles open the 2021 season on Friday, March 26 when they host the College of Mt. St. Vincent. Game time is set for 5:30 pm.
