New York, NY| Freshman Jessica Young led all players with eight kills as the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's volleyball team earned its second 3-0 victory over CCNY this season in Manhattan on Friday evening.

With the win the Golden Eagles improve to 4-9 on the year as the Beavers slip to 3-13.

An early 9-2 advantage in the first set sprung the guests to a convincing 25-12 victory, and the Golden Eagles harnessed that momentum and used it in the second where they'd go up 16-7 midway through the frame.

An 8-3 run by CCNY brought the set to within four points (19-15), but SJC fended the Beavers off and earned a 25-19 win to go up 2-0 in the match.

In the third, the Golden Eagles jumped out to an 8-0 lead before later building a 24-11 advantage. A 6-0 run from the hosts delayed the inevitable, but sophomore Jessica Nicholson's kill won SJC the next point and clinched the 3-0 sweep.

Young's eight kills were not only a game-high, but a season-high for the freshman, who hit .462 in the match.

Junior Danielle Senecal anchored the defense, registering a game-best 18 digs to bring her Skyline Conference leading digs-per-set average to 5.84.

Senior Morgan Tiska contributed seven kills of her own and freshman Brionna Silva dished out a game-high 14 assists.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, October 7 when they host non-conference opponent Lehman College inside the Danzi Center at 12:00 pm. Live video and stats for the match will be available here.
