Pensavalle named Offensive Player of the Week, Five Golden Eagles Land on Weekly Honor Rolls

New York, NY| Sophomore Nick Pensavalle of the St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) men's soccer team was named Skyline Conference Offensive Player of the Week as announced on Wednesday morning.

Additionally, senior Julia Cruz (women's soccer), junior Gianna Dickson (women's cross country), sophomore Kristin Vahle (women's soccer), and freshmen Ryan Steinberg (men's cross country) and Steven Gracia (men's soccer) landed on Weekly Honor Rolls in their respective sports.

Nick Pensavalle (So.) - Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week

Pensavalle paced the Golden Eagles in a 2-0 opening weekend with seven points on three goals and an assist. The sophomore opened the scoring in a 2-0 win over Hunter College with an unassisted tally before assisting on the game's second goal. Against York College, he drilled a penalty kick in the sixth minute of play before adding his second goal of the day less than four minutes later.

Julia Cruz (Sr.) - Women's Soccer Weekly Honor Roll

Cruz guided the Golden Eagles to a season-opening win over NJCU when she found the back of the net late in the first half before dishing an assist minutes later for a 2-0 win.

Gianna Dickson (Jr.) - Women's Cross Country Weekly Honor Roll

Dickson was SJLI's women's top performer at the Adelphi Invitational. The junior placed 22nd overall with a 5k time of 20:49.1, which beat her time from last season's race by nearly two minutes.

Kristin Vahle (So.) - Women's Soccer Weekly Honor Roll

In her first game minding the net for the Golden Eagles, Vahle came up with six saves recording a shutout in the 2-0 season-opening win over NJCU.

Ryan Steinberg (Fr.) - Men's Cross Country Weekly Honor Roll

Steinberg paced the SJLI's men's team at the Adelphi Invitational with a time of 28:32.20. In his first collegiate competition the freshman finished 40th in the 8k race

Steven Gracia (Fr.) - Men's Soccer Weekly Honor Roll

In his first weekend as a Golden Eagle, Gracia provided four assists all coming in a 12-0 win over York College.
