Ten Golden Eagles Highlight Skyline Weekly Awards

New York, NY| Senior Madison Gremli and senior April Sexton of the St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) women's volleyball team were named Skyline Conference Offensive Player of the Week and Libero of the Week, while freshman Allison Goodyear of the women's tennis team and Ryan Steinberg of the men's cross country team won Rookie of the Week. 

Additionally, junior Kristin Vahle and sophomore Erica Urbancick (women's soccer), sophomore Nick Pensavalle (men's soccer), freshman Nina Vanderhoof (women's volleyball), junior Gianna Dickson (women's cross country), and sophomore Victoria Corcoran (women's tennis) all secured weekly honor roll recognition. 

Madison Gremli (Sr.) - Women's Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week

Gremli led the Golden Eagles in a 3-0 week with 45 kills averaging 4.50 kills per set while hitting at a .232 clip. The senior picked up 24 digs averaging 2.40 digs per set, served six aces, and finished with five total blocks. The Outside hitter posted match-best kills in both sweeps over Curry College and Albertus Magnus with 16 and 15 kills, respectively. While also recording a double-double of 14 kills and 13 digs in the season-opening win over Brooklyn College.

April Sexton (Sr.) - Women's Volleyball Libero of the Week

Sexton led the Golden Eagles in a 3-0 week with 35 digs averaging 3.50 digs per set. The senior served up 12 aces and picked up a team-high 49 receptions.

Ryan Steinberg (Fr.) - Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Week

Steinberg led the men's team and finished 68th overall in the 8k race with a time of 29:55.00.

Allison Goodyear (Fr.) - Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week

Goodyear's first matches as a Golden Eagles saw the freshman come out on top in both of her singles matches. The Mastic, NY native pulled out an 8-4 victory in #4 singles against Baruch College before edging out a win 4-6, 6-4, 1-0, in #5 singles against Hunter College.

Erica Urbancick (So.) - Women's Soccer Weekly Honor Roll

Urbancick converted a penalty kick in the 83-minute to secure the game-winning goal in the Golden Eagles' 1-0 victory over Ramapo.

Kristin Vahle (So.) - Women's Soccer Weekly Honor Roll

Vahle recorded four saves facing four shots on goal for the second straight shutout for the Golden Eagles.

Nick Pensavalle (So.) - Men's Soccer Weekly Honor Roll

Pensavalle contributed one goal and one assist in a Skyline Conference matchup against Yeshiva. 

Nina Vanderhoof (Fr.) - Women's Volleyball Weekly Honor Roll

Vanderhoof finished her first week as a Golden Eagle with 13 kills out of the middle posting a .241 hitting percentage. The freshman added five digs and five total blocks.

Gianna Dickson (Jr.) - Women's Cross Country Weekly Honor Roll

Dickson was the women's top performer for the second week in a row when she placed 57th out of 117 at the LIU Fall Festival with a time of 21:29.04.

Victoria Corcoran (So.) - Women's Tennis Weekly Honor Roll

Corcoran pulled out a 6-3, 6-2 win in #3 singles against Hunter College. In the same match, the sophomore also came away with an 8-5 win in the #1 doubles.
