Knights Lance SJC to Send them to Fourth Straight Loss

Newburgh, N.Y. – The St. Joseph's Golden Eagles (4-14, (3-8 SKY) continued their skid on Saturday in a 77-51 defeat at the hands of the Mount St. Mary Knights (15-4, (11-1 SKY) in a Skyline Conference game.

The Eagles got off to a quick start with three-pointers by Jordan Kowalski (North Babylon, N.Y./Abilene, TX) and Wade Richardson (Copiague, N.Y./Copiague) but Chris Pisciotta scored the first eight points for the Knights to give them their first lead of the night, 8-6. Neither team shot well through the first 13 minutes of the half but with seven minutes remaining and the Eagles trailing by six, the Knights caught fire offensively, sparking a 16-1 run. SJC hit their first shot in over seven minutes to cut the deficit to 19 but two "3's" at the end of the half put the Knights up 42-17.

The Golden Eagles were not able to keep up offensively. They went cold on the offensive end at times throughout the second half despite shooting over 50% from the field in the half. Andy Laurent (Amityville, N.Y./Amityville) led several charges with his 10 second half points but the Eagles were no match for the Knights who have now won seven straight.

Laurent led the Golden Eagles with 14 points and Aaron Coughlin (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) had 12 points, three steals, and two assists in just 20 minutes of play.

The Eagles host Maritime in more Skyline action this Tuesday at 7 p.m.
