Laurent Receives MBWA Honorable Mention Recognition

New York, NY| Junior guard Andy Laurent collected a second weekly accolade on Tuesday morning, as he was included on the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association's Men's Divisions II-III Honorable Mention of the Week list. The Amityville, NY native was selected as Skyline Conference Co-Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.

In a week that saw Laurent tally his 1,000th career point and record his second double-double of the season, the guard averaged team-highs in points (20.7), rebounds (9.0) and assists (4.0) through three games. The guard became the 12th player in St. Joseph's history to score 1,000 career points in a win over St. Joseph's (Brooklyn) on Thursday, January 7, when he tallied a game-best 28 points and a career-high 17 rebounds. Laurent would go for 20 points, six assists and five rebounds in a victory over first-place Sage on Saturday, January 9. The current leading scorer in the Skyline Conference, Laurent is averaging 21.7 points-per-game and ranks in the top 10 in assists (4.3/game) and steals (1.8/game). He also leads the Golden Eagles in rebounds-per-game (6.7).
