The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) men's basketball team dropped a 101-48 exhibition game to Hofstra University on Monday morning.

Top performers
  • Freshman forward AJ Esposito led the Golden Eagles with nine points while adding one rebound and one steal in just seven minutes of action

  • Senior Spencer Malloy secured eight points, three rebounds and two assists 

  • Senior Ryan McNeely and junior Dillon Hod finished with six and seven points, respectively

  • Hofstra's Tyler Thomas had a game-high 26 points, going 8-13 from behind the arc

  • Darlinstone Dubar of Hofstra tallied 17 points, four rebounds, one assist and two steals

How it happened
  • The Golden Eagles saw a lead early as Malloy scored or assisted on SJLI's first eight points of the game, holding an 8-7 advantage

  • As Hofstra took back the lead up five midway through the first quarter, the Pride would go on to make four threes in route to a 12-1 run

  • With the first half coming to a close, it was Hofstra again who went on an 11-2 run in the final five minutes to take a 44-19 lead

  • The Pride would start the second half going on a 32-4 scoring run to build upon their lead with just 10 minutes remaining in the game

  • The Golden Eagles would score their final 25 points in the final 10 minutes of action as Hofstra secured the victory

  • The Pride shot 42.9% (18-for-42) from three-point territory and 53.2% from the field for the game 

  • The Golden Eagles posted a 32.2% shooting percentage overall and shot 25% from three-point range

  • Hofstra held a 47-28 reboudning advantage
