How it happened:
  • Malloy started the game in a rhythm as he provided the Golden Eagles with nine of their first 15 points, hitting a free throw seven minutes into action to pull ahead by one, 15-14

  • As John Jay rallied, scoring a quick eight points, it was Tabada who dropped in six straight for SJLI to keep the game within one

  • St. Joseph's would go on a 17-10 run in the final minutes of the half to secure a two-point lead, 38-36

  • Early on in the second half again, both teams would exchange points, but a Tabada three off the pass from Malloy pulled SJLI ahead by five

  • The Golden Eagles would pull ahead by seven points with just under 10 minutes left following a Turner layup and a Tabada jumper

  • A Turner three brought the lead to, but back-to-back buckets from the bloodhounds cut it to six with five minutes of play left

  • John Jay looked to get back into the game with a Watkin and-one layup that the guard would convert at the line, but Allen would silence the run with a three-pointer

  • Clutch free throws down the stretch from St. Joseph's helped solidify the victory
