Men's Volleyball Breezes By Baruch, 3-0

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's volleyball team earned their second non-conference match in as many days with a 3-0 sweep of Baruch College in the Danzi Center on Thursday evening.

The Golden Eagles improve to 4-1 on the season as the Bearcats fall to 1-4.

A tightly played match saw the hosts come away with 25-21, 26-24, and 25-19 wins in straight sets.

Mark Jensen led SJC with 11 kills while hitting at a .365 clip. Paul Curaro finished with 10 kills and a match-best eight digs and six service aces. Setter Clint Johnson tossed 32 assists with libero Thomas Renick scooping up seven digs. Middles Quinn Foglia and Pat Stevenson had strong showings finishing with .714 and .667 hitting percentages, respectively.

The Bearcats were led by Akil Vaughn with six kills. Jack Centeno and Michael Higgins finished with five kills apiece. Setter Stallone Shankar recorded 16 assists with libero Travis Goding picking up six digs.

With the Clash at Kean Tournament canceled due to the impending storm, the Golden Eagles will return to action on Saturday, February 5 when they host Lehman College and the Pratt Institute for a non-conference tri-match. Match times are set for 10:00 am and 2:00 pm.
