Women's Softball Places Fifth in Skyline Preseason Coaches Poll

Press Release from the Skyline Conference

New York, NY - In the 2012 Skyline Conference Pre-Season Softball Coaches' Poll, Farmingdale State was picked as the favorite to win the league, receiving four first-place votes.

Last year, Farmingdale State posted a 12-2 record in conference play and finished 32-7 overall. The Lady Rams are bolstered by five returning first-team all-conference players: infielders Aubrey Walker, Madison Snyder, and Kristen Flint, and outfielders Jennifer Jarczynski and Kaitlin Keenan. Last but certainly not least, the Rams will be delighted to have 2011 Skyline Pitcher of the Year and Tournament MVP Hope Zino back on the mound.

Right behind the Rams is NYU-Poly, who also earned four first-place votes, after forging a 23-15 record last year, including a 7-2 conference record. The Fighting Blue Jays have a solid core returning this year, headlined by junior first-baseman Corinne Fitzgibbons, recipient of the 2011 Skyline Player of the Year award. Also coming back for NYU-Poly are first-team all-conference designated player Megan Moran, as well as second-team selections catcher Christi Bruin and outfielder Sadie Hoeshen.

Mount Saint Mary came in third in the poll, rounded out by Old Westbury (led by 2011 Rookie of the Year outfielder Jennifer Jean), St. Joseph's-L.I., Sage, Mount Saint Vincent, and Purchase.
