Women's Lacrosse Lands Five on Skyline All-Conference Teams
New York, NY| Five members of the St. Joseph's College women's lacrosse team earned Skyline All-Conference honors as announced on Monday morning. Senior Tori Staker took home First-Team honors as junior Jillian Hummel, sophomores Melissa Newman and Grace Erny, and freshman Alexa Cordingly all landed on the Second-Team.
Additionally, junior Breanna Daly was named to the All-Sportsmanship team.
Staker makes her debut on the First-Team after finishing among conference leaders and topping the Golden Eagles in goals (32), assists (12), and points (44) en route to being a two-time conference Offensive Player of the Week. She also led the Golden Eagles in ground balls (32), draw controls (46), and caused turnovers (21).
Hummel finished top three in the Skyline in saves-per-game (9.13), save percentage (.497), and goals-against average (9.25).
Newman finished second on the Golden Eagles in points (24) and third in goals (17) and assists (7). The midfielder also recorded four ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Erny patrolled the SJC defense causing eight turnovers while scooping up nine ground balls.
Cordingly made an immediate impact for the Golden Eagles finishing with 19 points on 19 goals. The attack boasted a 74.4.% shooting percentage while recording 16 ground balls, seven caused turnovers, and securing six draw controls.
The Golden Eagles entered the Skyline Conference Championship as the second seed and were defeated by third-seeded USMMA, 12-11, in the semifinal round on April 30.
