Lady Eagles Complete the 2013 Season

Patchogue, N.Y. - The St. Joseph's Golden Eagles finish the season with an overall record of 4-6 and a Skyline Conference record of 1-4 - just short of qualifying for the postseason SKyline Tournament. 

The Eagles had three shutout victories on the season against Yeshiva, Lehman and York. Katie Soeder (Patchogue, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) finished a perfect singles season with a 9-0 record. Kelley McGrath (Nesconset, N.Y./Sachem North) capped off an outstanding singles season with seven straight victories concluding with an 8-1 record.

Katie Soeder and Nancy Marroquin (Patchogue, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) ended the year 6-3 in doubles. Erika Hasselberg (Shirley, N.Y./William Floyd) and Rita Wehrli (Medford, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) had a 5-4 doubles record.

Despite the record, the Eagles were competitive throughout the season. Four of their six losses including three Skyline losses, ended 5-4.  

St. Joseph's got great production from the two freshman; Wehrli and Hasselberg. The four seniors capped off their St. Joseph's College careers with a combined singles record of 19-13.
