Ithaca Stifles Men’s Basketball on Friday

Ithaca, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's basketball team suffered a 111-73 defeat at the hands of Ithaca College in the annual Cortaca Classic in Ithaca, NY on Friday evening. With the loss the Golden Eagles slide to 0-2 on the year as the Bombers jump out to a 1-0 record to start their season.

Ithaca surged to an early 18-4 lead and never looked back. Midway through the first half the Bombers held a 32-13 advantage and later took a 54-36 edge into the break.

The Golden Eagles would trail by as many as 38 points before succumbing to the 111-73 defeat.

Junior forward Isaiah Moore shot 8-17 from the field and collected a game-best 19 points off the bench. Senior Andy Laurent went for 17 points and a team-best nine rebounds, and fellow classman Fernando Vazquez contributed 16 points of his own.

Ithaca was led by Peter Ezema who tallied 18 points.

Overall, SJC shot 40.6% from the field in comparison with Ithaca's 56.0%. The Bombers also held advantages in free throw percentage (94.4%-57.1%) and rebounding (45-31).

The Golden Eagles continue play in the Cortaca Classic when they face SUNY Cortland at 4:00 PM on Saturday afternoon. Live stats will be available here.
