Golf Takes Third at Skyline Championship

Calverton, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's golf team hosted and finished third at the 2018 Skyline Conference Championship at Baiting Hollow Club on Sunday and Monday, October 21 and 22.

SJC, which was third after day one with a score of 365, 15 strokes off leader and eventual champion Farmingdale State, finished with a total two-day team score of 717. Farmingdale was first (677) and Mount St. Mary College took second (705).

The Golden Eagles were led by sophomore Joseph Tantillo, who, after completing day one in fourth place (86), shot an 85 on Monday and finished third overall with a total score of 171 (+27).

The 2017 Skyline Rookie of the Year and All-Conference First-Team selection for the second-straight year was 11 strokes off individual champion Christopher Fischer (160) of Farmingdale.

Senior Patrick Standard (+37) posted a score of 181 and took 13th place. Standard enjoyed a much better day two (86) after posting a 95 on Sunday.

Freshman Patrick Diecidue and senior Andrew Maiorca both shot 187 and tied for 19th place.

SJC third-year head coach Jeff DiMarco took home Coach of the Year honors, and Mount St. Vincent's Devin Mendez (167) took second place and was named Rookie of the Year.
