Newark, N.J. - After a hard fought battle, the St. Joseph's Golden Eagles (3-7) had no remedy for the Rutgers-Newark Scarlet Raider's (8-2) high-flying offense in their 3-0 defeat Raiders on Wednesday evening.
Rutgers-Newark offense opened up the game early by scoring all three of their goals just twenty-three minutes into the contest. The Scarlet Raider's offense continued their high-tempo play throughout the game, outshooting the Golden Eagles 29-5.
SJC's goalkeeper, Avery Gomez (Bay Shore, N.Y. /Bay Shore), remained poised following a tough first half, saving all 11 shots that came his way in the second. Gomez finished the game with a season-high 15 saves.
St. Joseph's College will remain on the road for the third consecutive game as they travel to Albany, N.Y. to face off against Sage College (2-4-1) in an important Skyline Conference contest on September 27.
