Patchogue, N.Y. — With subpar weather conditions and luck favoring their opponent, the St. Joseph's Golden Eagles men's soccer team (3-9) was defeated 2-0 by the Drew University Rangers (5-2-4).
At 19:21 into the game, SJC's freshman goalkeeper Spencer Hoek gave up a rebound, which resulted in trouble — a follow-up shot and goal by Drew's Michael Pezzuti.
The second half proved to be in tighter terms — with shots just 7-6 favoring Drew. The battle continued while the second half remained 1-0 with less than five minutes to go.
Fatigue showed and Drew's energy brought them to score the second and final goal at 86:15. The Rangers Joe Sollod's powerful shot blew past the Golden Eagles leaving them with a non-conference loss.
The Golden Eagles next match is at home this Saturday at 1 p.m. as they take on new Skyline Conference foe-Sarah Lawrence in their annual Breast Cancer Awareness/Family Day match.
