Farmingdale, N.Y. - St. Joseph's men's soccer team played the role of road warriors today as they defeated Farmingdale State, 2-0, in a Skyline Conference game. The Golden Eagles improved to 7-12 and 4-4 in the Skyline, while the Rams drop to 6-10-1 and 3-4-1 in conference action.
With the win, the Golden Eagles stand in sixth place in the Skyline Conference and in position for a postseason berth going into this Saturday's scheduled home game vs. third place Maritime (8-6-1, 4-2-1 SKY) at 2:00 p.m.
The Golden Eagles took a 1-0 lead only 2:36 into the contest as senior midfielder Chris Hall (Mastic, N.Y./William Floyd) scored off a cross in front by junior midfielder Gaetano Innamorato (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon).
In a defensive first half, St. Joseph's held a 5-1 shot advantage as they took their 1-0 lead into halftime.
With 26:40 remaining in the second half, the Golden Eagles extended the lead to 2-0 on a goal by senior midfielder Dylan Ierardi (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park).
The Rams managed three shots over the final minutes but were unable to score as St. Joseph's earned the 2-0 conference win. SJC outshot the Rams 9-7 in the game.
