Chris Hall Named ECAC Metro Offensive Player of the Week
Danbury, Conn. - Golden Eagle Chris Hall (Mastic, N.Y./ William Floyd) of the men's soccer team was named Division III Metro Offensive Player of the week last week after his outstanding postseason performances against Mount St. Mary College and Purchase State. In the semifinal round of the Skyline Championship, #5 SJC dominated #1 Mt. St. Mary 4-2 in an incredible upset. Hall's goal in the 78th minute of play clinched the match for the Eagles, which had been tied 2-2 at halftime and ultimately ended 4-2.
This win against MSMC advanced SJC to the final round of the tournament in which they faced #6 Purchase State. Following a scoreless first half, the Purchase Panthers scored at 50:07 to put them ahead 1-0. Hall answered only three minutes later, hitting the bottom left corner of the net from six yards out, effectively tying the game and forcing overtime. Unfortunately, Hall's goal was SJC's only tally of the match as the Panthers went on to win 2-1 in double overtime.
Hall, who played in 21 games this season, was the team's leading scorer with six goals in addition to his five assists.
