The St. Joseph's University-New York (L.I.) women's basketball team had three players finish in double-digits, as they earned a 62-47 win over SUNY Geneseo in their home opener at the Danzi Center on Saturday afternoon.

Top performers

• Senior Lanyah Ford led the way with a double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds

• Junior Felicia Barreiros scored 12 points, collected three assists, and added a game-high four steals

• Graduate Casey Travers added 10 points to go along with eight rebounds and a team-high four assists

• Geneseo was led by an 18-point performance by Hannah Stockman, who shot 5-for-10 from three-point range and added eight boards

• Kiley Snow scored nine points and grabbed six rebounds for the Knights, with all of her points coming in the second half

How it happened

• St. Joseph's built an 8-0 lead in the first two minutes of play, fueled by Travers' five points

• The Knights scored their first points at the 5:38 mark, then the Golden Eagles responded right away with a three from graduate Julianna Knice to go ahead 11-2

• SJLI scored six of the final seven points in the quarter to finish the first ahead 17-5

• Geneseo scored the first eight points of the second quarter, with Stockman scoring six of those points on a pair of three-point shots to bring the visitors within four (17-13)

• St. Joseph's went on a 10-3 run to finish the half, led by a pair of three-point buckets by Barreiros to take a 30-18 lead into the break

• After a quiet three-plus minutes to begin the second half, the Knights scored four straight points to trim their deficit to eight (30-22) before Travers' three at the 3:58 mark put the Golden Eagles back up by double-digits (33-22)

• The two sides exchanged threes, then the hosts finished the quarter ahead 38-25

• The Knights' Stockman knocked down five points to begin the fourth, cutting the lead to eight (38-30) before Ford's three-point basket with 7:45 on the clock put the hosts up by 11

• A three for Snow at the 4:51 mark made it a 43-36 game, then St. Joseph's went on a 7-0 run that was capped by Knice's four-point play that put the Golden Eagles at the 50-point mark with a lead of 14

• The Golden Eagles made 10 of 14 free throws in the final two minutes of the game to come away with a 62-47 victory to begin their season

• Barreiros' made free throw with 45 seconds remaining represented SJLI's largest lead of the game of 17 (60-43)

Notes

• St. Joseph's shot 29.5% from the field and 37% from three-point territory

• Geneseo posted a 30.2% shooting percentage overall and 29.2% from beyond the arc

• The Golden Eagles scored 24 points off turnovers compared to Geneseo's five, and held the advantage in points in the paint, 10-8

• Each team scored nine points off the bench, with all nine of SJLI's points coming from junior Isabella Sierra

• 46 points were scored in the fourth quarter, with 24 accounting for SJLI
