Women's Lacrosse Shuts Out Purchase, 13-0

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's lacrosse team picked up their first Skyline Conference win shutting out SUNY Purchase 13-0 at Danzi Stadium on Monday evening.

The win sees the Golden Eagles to 2-5 on the season with a 1-2 Skyline mark. The Panthers slide to 1-5 overall, 0-2 Skyline.

Juniors Melissa Newman and Jamie Trowbridge tallied five goals apiece and combined for three assists. Sophomore Emily O'Mara pitched in with two goals while claiming four draw controls and two ground balls.

Freshman Deirdre Carney finished with a goal while leading all players with six ground balls, five draw controls, and five caused turnovers. Freshman Adrianna Farrugia caused four turnovers with three ground balls in her season debut with fellow defender Grace Erny adding two ground balls while causing two turnovers.

Purchase's Madison Buttice recorded four ground balls, and four draw controls and caused three turnovers.

SJC's goalie Jillian Hummel turned away all four shots she faced with her counterpart Casandra Schmoger finishing with 15 saves.

The Golden Eagles resume Skyline Conference action on Saturday, April 16 when they travel to face USMMA at 12:00 pm.
