Women's Lacrosse Earns Skyline Win Over Mt. St. Mary, 9-6

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's lacrosse team played to a 9-6 Skyline Conference win over Mt. St. Mary College at Danzi Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The win sees the Golden Eagles at 3-6 on the season with a 2-3 Skyline record. The Knights fall to 7-5 overall, 0-4 Skyline.

Junior Jamie Trowbridge and sophomore Emily O'Mara paced the Golden Eagles with three goals apiece. Trowbridge added a game-high six draw controls with two ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers. O'Mara collected a game-best four ground balls with two draw controls.

Junior Melissa Newman and freshmen Deirde Carney and Courtney Donato accounted for SJC remaining goals.

Grace Erny controlled the defense with three ground balls and a game-best four caused turnovers.

After shutting out the Knights 2-0 in the opening frame, the Golden Eagles limited the visitors to just one goal in the second quarter to take a 5-1 lead into the break.

MSMC outscored SJC 3-2 in the third, but the Golden Eagles held the Knight to just two scores in the fourth while netting two goals of their own to capture the 9-6 win.

SJC goalie Jillian Hummel turned away 14 shots while her counterpart Liz Petrellese made eight saves.

The Golden Eagles play their final home game on Saturday, April 23 when they host the College of Mt. St. Vincent at 12:00 pm.
