Women’s Swimming Claims 2nd at Sarah Lawrence Sprint Carnival

Bronxville, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's swimming team earned a second-place finish out of a field of seven teams at the Sarah Lawrence College Sprint Carnival in Bronxville, NY on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Eagles amassed 124 points and finished behind only Sarah Lawrence (214).

SJC opened the afternoon with a second-place finish in the 200 yard medley relay as Aileen Baker, Kim Mazza, Gabrielle Zollo and Samantha Mullman posted a time of 2:11.42.

Mullman, a freshman from Massapequa, would later earn SJC's only first-place finish on the afternoon when she turned in a 26.93 finish in the 50 yard freestyle. The sprinter would also place second in the 100 yard free (1:00.66).

Zollo collected two second-place individual finishes in both the 100 yard butterfly (1:11.88) and the 100 yard IM (1:12.73). Mazza would earn second and third place finishes in the 200 yard freestyle (2:17.98) and the 200 yard IM (2:35.61), respectively.  

In the afternoon's final event, the 200 yard freestyle relay, Baker, Mazza, Zollo and Mullman again placed second, this time with a time of 1:52.10.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Friday, November 4 when they travel to SUNY Purchase for a Skyline Conference meet with the Panthers at 6:00 PM. Full meet recap will be available here at sjcgoldeneagles.com following the action.
