Women’s Swimming Drops Non-Conference Meet to Hunter on Tuesday

New York, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's swimming team suffered a 52-39 defeat to Hunter College in a non-conference meet on the road on Tuesday evening. With the loss the Golden Eagles slide to 5-6 on the year as Hunter improves to 8-1.

Freshman Samantha Mullman earned SJC's first first-place finish of the meet when she posted a time of 26.62 in the 50 yard freestyle. Senior Gabrielle Zollo took second in the same event before placing first in the 200 yard butterfly (2:41.14) two events later.

Mullman grabbed her second first-place finish of the meet in the 100 yard free with a 58.70 time.

After junior Marissa Palmeri won the 200 yard breaststroke (3:02.38), the 200 yard freestyle relay team of Aileen Baker, Julie Garvey, Zollo and Mullman earned a first-place finish (1:53.16) in the evening's final event.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Friday, January 13 when they host John Jay in a non-conference meet inside the Danzi Center pool at 5:00 PM. Full meet report here on sjcgoldeneagles.com following the action.
