Women’s Swimming Falls to Sarah Lawrence, Maritime

Throggs Neck, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's swimming team was handed a pair of defeats by Sarah Lawrence (112-88) and SUNY Maritime (110-89) in a Skyline Conference double-duel in Throggs Neck, NY on Friday evening.

With the defeats the Golden Eagles slide to 1-3 in conference competition this season.

Senior Kim Mazza collected SJC's first first-place finish of the meet in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 12:10.51 that edged the second-place finisher by only three seconds.

Freshman Aileen Baker cruised to a first-place finish in the very next event, the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:13.94.  

Senior Gabrielle Zollo squeaked out SJC's third first-place finish on the evening when she out touched Sarah Lawrence's Gabby Risica in the 100 yard butterfly (1:08.74).

In the evening's final event, the 200 yard freestyle relay team of Zollo, Baker, Mazza and Samantha Mullman earned a first-place finish with a program-best time of 1:51.16.
