Women’s Swimming Edges Old Westbury, Falls to USMMA in Friday Double-Duel

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's swimming team split a Skyline Conference double-duel inside the Danzi Center on Friday evening, surging to a 74-17 victory over SUNY Old Westbury and dropping 64-31 decision to the United States Merchant Marine Academy.

The Golden Eagles collected three first-place finishes in the meet, the first coming via Kim Mazza who posted a 12:24.94 in the 1,000 yard freestyle.

Freshman Samantha Mullman claimed the other two first-place finishes in the 50 yard freestyle (26.29) and the 100 yard freestyle (58.43). Both times were season-bests for the Massapequa, NY native.

Senior Gabrielle Zollo (2:14.01) and Aileen Baker (6:10.34) both took second in the 200 yard freestyle and the 500 yard freestyle, respectively.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, December 10 when they host the College of Mt. St. Vincent in a Skyline Conference meet inside the Danzi Center at 1:00 PM.
