Women's Tennis Topples MSMC, Advances to Skyline Final

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's tennis team defeated Mount St. Mary College, 5-1, in the semifinal round of the Skyline Conference Championship at the SJC Outdoor Field Complex on Thursday evening.

The top-seeded Golden Eagles improve to 7-0 overall on the year and will advance to face third-seeded Farmingdale State in the Championship final at home on Saturday morning. The Knights' drop to 3-4 with the loss.

Jessica Jones and Mackenzie Martocci put SJC on the board first with an 8-3 win at first doubles. Trinity Behlen and Joan Dabalsky won 9-7 at third doubles before Haley Celona and Erin Hickey completed the doubles sweep with an 8-6 win at second doubles.

Martocci put SJC on the brink with a 6-0, 6-0 win at second singles, but MSMC's Julia Flynn extended the match with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at fifth singles. 

Dabalsky fired St. Joseph's to a 5-1 win when she completed a 6-3, 6-1 victory at sixth singles.

Saturday's Championship final is set to begin at 11:00 am. A limited amount of spectators will be permitted on site. More information here.
