Women's Tennis Topped by Farmingdale in Skyline Final

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's tennis team was defeated, 5-3, by Farmingdale State in the Skyline Conference Championship final at the SJC Outdoor Field Complex on Saturday afternoon.

The top-seeded Golden Eagles entered the contest undefeated and finish the season with a 7-1 mark. The third-seeded Rams improve to 6-2 overall on the year and earn a berth in the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship tournament. 

SJC took command early on, winning two of the three doubles matches. Jessica Jones and Mackenzie Martocci were 8-6 winners at first doubles while Trinity Behlen and Joan Dabalsky registered an 8-6 win at third doubles. 

In singles play, Farmingdale posted victories at first, second and fourth singles. Hickey secured a 6-1, 7-5 win at fifth singles, but Farmingdale's Stephanie Negrillo topped Martocci, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 at third singles to clinch a 5-3 match victory for the guests.
