Player of Year Girardi Leads Five on All-Skyline Baseball Team; Garrett is Coach of the Year

New York, N.Y. – Junior Nick Girardi of St. Joseph's-L.I. has been named the 2015 Skyline Baseball Player of the Year in voting conducted among the Conference's eight head coaches.

The Skyline coaches also selected Old Westbury's Tim Ingram as Pitcher of the Year, Chris Triano of Purchase as Rookie of the Year and Richard Garrett of St. Joseph's-L.I. as Coach of the Year.

Girardi ranks second in the conference in doubles (11) and third in hits (44) while batting .383 with a .455 on-base percentage for the regular season champion Golden Eagles.  The Syosset, N.Y., resident has 12 multi-hit performances and 23 RBI.  On the mound, Girardi is 2-1 with a pair of saves and a 2.70 earned run average with 27 strikeouts over 16.2 innings pitched.

Ingram repeats as Skyline Pitcher of the Year and boasts a 7-3 record with a 1.37 earned run average and four complete games for the Skyline champion Panthers.  The senior righthander from Westbury, N.Y., has amassed a league-leading 76 strikeouts over 59.1 innings pitched while holding opposing hitters to a .178 batting average.  Ingram was a three-time Pitcher of the Week honoree in 2015 and tossed one-hit shutouts against both Mount Saint Mary (Apr. 19) and Purchase (Apr. 25).

A two-time Rookie of the Week selection, Triano ranks first in the conference in five different offensive categories, including batting average (.500), total bases (73) and triples (six).  The first-year performer from Greenwich, Conn., leads Purchase in both runs (26) and RBI (25) and registered seven multi-hit performances with four home runs in league play.

Girardi, Ingram and Triano are joined on the All-Conference first team by Maritime's Chris Deddo, Matthew Sollin and Tyler Stuart; Elan Trischitta of Purchase; Farmingdale State's Michael Marino; Joseph Calabrese, Josh Outsen and Brendan Sullivan of St. Joseph's-L.I.; and Old Westbury's Christian Faust, Nick Yip and Tommy Ziegen.

The second-team All-Conference includes Tyler Krolikowski and Nicholas Pace of Mount Saint Vincent; Maritime's Joseph Longo and Brian McLaughlin; Joseph Lynn of St. Joseph's-L.I.; Mount Saint Mary's Matt Cahill and Andrew Conn; Farmingdale State's Anthony Alvino, Dalton McCarthy, Ryan O'Connor and Richard Sullivan; Brenden LaPorte of Purchase; and Old Westbury's Dean Sheridan and Joey Walsh.

In his second season at St. Joseph's-L.I., Garrett guided the program to a 13-1 record in Skyline play and the Golden Eagles' first regular season title since 2011.  At 20-17 overall – which includes a 7-1 road record in conference action – SJC has secured its first winning season since the 2009 campaign.  Garett earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees from St. John's University, and he is assisted by Joe Benkert, Jake Brown, Paul Parsolano, Dennis Lopez and Dan Diblasi.
