Eagles Fall One Short of First at Gator Invitational

Eagles Fall One Short of First at Gator Invitational

Ravena, N.Y.--The St. Joseph's men's golf team placed second  with a 325 team score at the Sage Gator Fall Invitational on Saturday at the Sycamore Country Club.  Concordia College won the team title after shooting a round of 324 on the par 72, 6,610 yard course.

The weather was damp and very cool, making for uncomfortable playing conditions.  Freshman Christian Bleck had another outstanding round of competitive golf posting a solid 75 and finishing tied for first place at the event.  This was Bleck's third consecutive successful finish, having won the Golden Eagle Invitational on September 14, followed by his tie for third at the Farmingdale Skyline Invitational on Friday.  Bleck's second first place finish set a new team record for wins in one season.

Freshman Robert Bray posted another fine score of 78 in the difficult conditions on a demanding course.  The other team scores were team captain Sean Sanders at 88, freshman Zac Campanelli with an 84 and sophomore Kenneth Ortiz shooting 99.

The Golden Eagles posted a score of 325, finishing one stroke short of Division II's Concordia College, which shot a team total of 324 in a field of seven teams competing.
