Men's Lacrosse Downed in Skyline Opener

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's lacrosse team dropped its Skyline Conferene opener, 10-5, to Farmingdale State College at Danzi Stadium on Friday evening.

The loss sees the Golden Eagles slip to 2-2 (0-1 Skyline) on the year as the Rams improve to 4-3 (1-0 Skyline).

FSC stormed out of the gate, taking and eventually riding a 4-0 lead into the second quarter.

Zak Jones tallied the only goal in the second (4-1) to put SJC on the board, and two more tallies, one from Jack Murray and a second off the stick of Jones, in the third quarter made it a one-goal game (4-3).

FSC struck next via Shane Clark with 7:41 to play in the third--a goal that kicked off a 3-0 run that put the guests back up four goals (7-3).

SJC's Matt Prokesch tallied the last goal of the third but the Rams put up three-straight goals in the first four minutes of the fourth to put the game out of reach.

Starting in goal for SJC was Adam Sivon (2-2), who made seven saves on 17 shots.

Farmingdale held a slim 28-26 advantage in shots but the hosts won 11 of 19 faceoffs.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, March 24 when they host the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy for a Skyline Conference contest at 12:00 pm.
