Eagles Tennis Narrowly Takes Down Purchase Panthers

Patchogue, N.Y. – The Golden Eagles (3-2, 1-1 Skyline) won four of the six singles matches after  taking one out of the three doubles to pull off the 5-4 victory over the Purchase Panthers (1-6, 1-1 Skyline).

Brandon Abbatiello won his singles match in two sets, 7-6 and 6-4. Adam Friel won the second single match for SJC with a two set, 6-3 and 5-7 victory. Tom O'Keefe made it three straight for the Golden Eagles with a 6-4 and 6-3 decisive win in two sets. Alexander Fisher dominated his opponent winning in two sets, 6-0 and 6-1.

Chris Corrao lost his first set but won the second set to force a third. Corrao lost the third set 6-2 but he picked up a major victory for the Eagles in doubles as he paired with Abbatiello and they won their match 8-3, which proved to be the difference for SJC.

The Eagles take on Rutgers-Newark on the road this Tuesday at 6 p.m.
