NEW YORK, N.Y. - The following 12 student-athletes have been named the 2013-14 Skyline Conference Scholar-Athletes of the Year in their respective winter/spring sports:

Women's Basketball: Camille Romero, Farmingdale State
Men's Basketball: Yisrael Feld, Yeshiva
Men's Swimming: Andrew Latona, Purchase
Women's Swimming: Kylee McGrane, Mount Saint Vincent
Men's Volleyball: Sheldon Coure, NJCU
Softball: Michelle Mongiello, Farmingdale State / Julianne Tierney, St. Joseph's-L.I.
Baseball: Anthony Alvino, Farmingdale State
Women's Lacrosse: Sara Bey, Old Westbury / Claire Duffy, Mount Saint Mary
Men's Lacrosse: John Marcelli, Kean
Men's Tennis: Brandon Abbatiello. St. Joseph's-L.I.

A Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award is presented to the first-team All-Conference performer who carries the highest grade point average (minimum 3.30) for the spring semester in the sports of baseball, softball, lacrosse, men's volleyball and men's tennis.  The highest cumulative grade point average (minimum 3.30) for both the fall and spring semesters of 2013-14 is used for the first-team All-Conference recipients in basketball and swimming.        

Romero averaged a team-high 19.8 points per game and earned Skyline Player of the Year and second-team All-Region distinction as FSC captured the league's regular season title. 

Feld led Yeshiva in both scoring (16.0 ppg.) and steals (23) en route to garnering Skyline Rookie of the Year honors.  The Teaneck, N.J., guard scored at least 20 points eight times and poured in 28 points on three different occasions in Skyline play.

Latona seized gold in both the 200-yard backstroke and 200-yard freestyle events and placed second in the 100-yard butterfly on Jan. 30 at the Skyline Championship.  Latona established a meet record in the 200-yard backstroke (1:56.75) and earned Rookie of the Year distinction. 

McGrane placed first in the 100-yard butterfly and swam a leg of the Dolphins' winning 200-yard medley relay on Jan. 30 at the Skyline Championship. 

Coure paced NJCU in points, points per set, kills, kills per set, hitting percentage, blocks and blocks per set during his inaugural campaign while starting all 30 matches.  The freshman middle hitter was tabbed the AVCA Division III National Player of the Week on Mar. 4.   

Mongiello batted .358 and compiled 16 doubles and 33 RBI as Farmingdale State secured its fourth consecutive Skyline Softball crown.  She shares the honor with Julianne Tierney of St. Joseph's-L.I., who batted .423 with seven home runs and 42 runs scored. 

A junior shortstop, Alvino hit .333 with 29 RBI and five triples this season as FSC earned a pair of victories in the 2014 NCAA Baseball Championship. 

Marcelli earns his second consecutive Men's Lacrosse Student-Athlete of the Year honor after registering 29 goals – including four game-winning tallies – as Kean won a program-best 16 contests. 

Bey, a freshman midfielder, scored 37 goals and added a team-high 51 draw controls while earning a pair of Rookie of the Week citations in 2014.  She shares the honor with Mount Saint Mary sophomore defender Claire Duffy, who amassed 37 ground balls, 19 caused turnovers and 13 goals.  

Abbatiello earned four victories at the No. 1 singles flight and posted an 8-4 record in doubles action as St. Joseph's-L.I. advanced to the semifinals of the 2014 Skyline Men's Tennis Championship.
