Track & Field Competes In First Meet of the Season

South Huntington, N.Y. - Junior Mario Mayen (Center Moriches, N.Y. / Center Moriches) ran past the competition placing second in the 800 meter with a time of 2:03.13 at the Golden Eagle's first meet of the season, the Bill Ward Invitational on Monday at St. Anthony's High School.

Mayen also competed commendably in the 4x400 meters anchoring the race by finishing in a time of 51.1 with splits of 25 and 26.

There were many new faces present in the Golden Eagles first meet of the year, having nine freshmen competing. SJC was challenged by an array of strong competition facing off against Division I, II, and III teams.

St. Joseph's College's young squad will look to take their first meet experience into the next event as the Golden Eagles travel back to St. Anthony's High School for St. Joseph's Winter Invitation on January 17 at 9:30 a.m.
