Three Track Athletes Break SJC Records at Ramapo Indoor Select

New York, N.Y. – The Golden Eagles indoor track and field team took their talents to the Ramapo College Indoor Select at the New Balance Track and Field Center, where a handful of athletes broke both school and personal records and one qualified for ECAC's.

AnnMarie Zigrosser (Bayport, N.Y. / St. John the Baptist), Ashley Arquer (Lindenhurst, N.Y. / Copiague), Mario Mayen (Center Moriches, N.Y. / Center Moriches), Kevin Sanders (Wading River, N.Y. / Shoreham Wading River), all participated in various events for the Golden Eagles.

Beating his school record for the second time in two weeks, Mayen set a new best for the 400-meter dash at 49.55, which tops his previous record by 1.19 seconds. This sixth place finish marked his first indoor 400 under fifty seconds and has qualified him for the ECAC's.

Zigrosser impressively broke her personal school record in the 5000m by 19 seconds and placed fourth. This record marked the first time she finished with a time under 19 minutes (18.54.77).

At the moment, both Mayen and Zigrosser are ranked number one in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) in their respective events.

Arquer also broke a personal record by .2 seconds and an SJC record that was set back in 2007 by .1 seconds in the 60-meter dash.

St. Joseph's College competes again this Friday, February 13 at the Molloy Invitational at St. Anthony's High School in Huntington at 4 p.m.
