Track & Field Sets Pace at Roadunnrer Invitational

Mahwah, N.J. – The men's and women's outdoor track & field teams had a good showing at the 4th Annual Roadrunner Invitational hosted by Ramapo College this weekend. Records and personal bests keep coming.

WOMEN

Leading the way for the women was junior Jessica Josema (Medford, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) taking fifth in the 400m with a time of 1:01.65 scoring four points.

Freshman jumper Samantha Maurice (Holtsville, N.Y/Sachem East) made her collegiate debut in the high jump setting the school record with a leap of 1.38m. Later she broke her own school record in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:15.26.

MEN

The men were lead by junior Brian Wersan (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem North) taking seventh in the 800m breaking the previous school record with a time of 1:58.68 scoring two points.

Freshman hurdler Ian Sullivan (Center Moriches, N.Y./Center Moriches) took seventh in the 110 high hurdles in 16.44 breaking his previous school record scoring two points.

Senior Michael Lombardi (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Connetquot) competed in the 5000m and finished eighth with a time of 15:52.11 scoring one point.

Freshman sprinter Mario Mayen (Center Moriches, N.Y./Center Moriches) bettered his 400m with a time of 50.83 and took seventh in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 58.13 scoring 1 point.

Freshman James D'Onofrio (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) broke his previous school record in the 100m with a time of 11.44.

The Golden Eagles will return to action on Saturday, April 13 at the TCNJ Invitational in Ewing, N.J.  Competition is slated to begin at 9:30 a.m.
